Passer Angel : Juvenile - Tropical eastern Pacific, from the Galápagos Islands northeast via Panama and Costa Rica to the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez), Mexico. Occurs on shallow algae-covered rocky reefs to about 80m depth. It can tolerate water temperatures as low as only 12 to 22º C, surviving the cold Humboldt current reaching from the south into the tropical eastern Pacific. The King Angelfish is often shy and usually solitary, but in some areas it is easily approached and sometimes encountered in large aggregations. Readily identified by its beautiful colours. Males clearly grow larger and bulkier than females and whilst females have yellow ventral fins, males have white ones. Juveniles have vertical blue lines on their rear half, the first one giving rise to the white bar. Length to 25cm.
